I love the collection of home and jewelry by Leah Singh Waldman, Founder and Creative Director at Leah Singh that is being sold in Fab.com (Fab.com Inc. 95 Morton Street, 8th Floor New York, NY 10014). It mixes traditional Indian craft techniques with modern, geometric, pure forms and models. Furthermore, they work directly with craftspeople in India to rejuvenate age-old, traditional crafts. A good fantastic labor.
Some examples:
1.- Leah Singh’s Wings Necklace: hand-carved out of buffalo bone, and hanging from double brass chains, the geometric Wings Necklace adds a dramatic elegance to any look. The buffalo bone is a by-product of abattoirs and the local farming industry of India, and began being used as a craft material after the ban on ivory. No animals are harmed to obtain the bone what is a really good news.
2.- Leah Singh’s Dee 12×12 Yellow in silk: fantastic pillow with a subtle design and exquisite variations in texture. Handwoven by artisans in India, the geometric embroidery covers the entire pillow. This pillow can add an unexpected cultural element to your home space.
3.- Leah Singh’s Square Stud Earrings: also hand-carved out of buffalo bone, they are set on sterling silver posts, geometric design for a modern woman who likes beautiful traditions.
You can see much more pieces if you go to fab.com this week or if you visit Leah Singh’s web.
Enjoy her art!
